Doesn't look bad. But unless it's being actively raced, that's a bunch of burned cash. :P

1st, the motorcylcle helmet on top of the car thing looks really gay. No better way to scream "I'm a poser" to everyone at a carshow then to stick a arai motorcycle helmet on top of your car making it look like it's your race gear and that car sees any real track days while it's wearing 20's. Basically equal to sticking a motorcross helmet on your car at a show to any onlooker over the age of 21.

I guess all you have to do is order a carbon re kit/doors from importfan.com and be cool.. Just another guy with more money than brains who doesn't realize what owning a FD is about.

I bet you saved a ton of weight with the carbon to make up for the weight of the lambo door kit, 5" tach and tons of other stuff you don't need. Lookin like a pro.

I'm sure it took someone some hard work but I doubt much of it was done by the owner and it's not really anything that's different from the 10 other widebody fds I can see picking up an issue of hci, other import mag. Maybe I'm immune to seeing what's so great about the car or maybe the people who actually like it are immune to the gayness of the whole car. I'm sure the 14 y/o's think it's hotness. With any luck maybe you can race down the street with your motorcycle helmet on in Fast and the Furious 4..

Got me crying over here. At the show I was trying to help present the race 'theme' of the car, since presentation points at these shows are really a large part. If it got me one point, it was worth it. The car did well at that show, its highest award thus far. The helmet, along with the neck guard, is actually the race gear I use when I race karts in upstate NY. I am sure I can get around a track quicker then you in pretty much any of my cars or karts, and since your in PA I am sure it can be aranged. Maybe you should take some racing lessons before? My 7 will switch the 'show wheels' off, for some track wheels, after it has seen its share of show wins. So, this is an example of non constructive criticism, from a 14 y/o who uses the term 'overall gayness' in a sentence. I know what owning an FD is all about, and if putting the car in a movie, even as terrible as F and F, would give the rotary scene more exposure, and have young people asking what a rotary is, I would do it in a second, because I would not be scared to have some 2 bit punk question me. Oh yea, and I didn't get any of the parts from importfan. Enjoy your weekend.

I like your carbon RX7, I am not a fan of lanbo doors but each to there own, at least you had the ***** to go and do something that you thought would look good. GOOD EFFORT.
I have a passion for carbon fibre and when used right looks great, you say your into karts I attached some photos of a Kart I built and its body work is full carbon fibre and I think it looks a lot better once it got colour on it.

This is not my Kart, I designed and built the carbon fibre bodywork.
The kart engine based on a Rotax 250cc twin but most of the engine parts are made
by FPE.

That is unbelievable. I have 2 Rotax Karts myself. One is the shifter, one is not. My little brother, Father and myself run them. Would you be interested in making another carbon shell like that one?
Thanks,
Joe

PS. Thanks to the others for supporting my efforts, like them or not on the car.

The customer I made this kit for has paid for all the development and sorry but I don't think he wants to sell the kit to anyone. This is a gear kart and the customer has large feet and he wants to use 3 pedals so I had to try to fit his feet in and be able to use the 3 pedals as well as being slippery though the air. I do have this Kart back in my work shop to make more carbon bits.
New airbox
MoTeC ADL dash mount
MoTeC M400 mount
Exhaust mounts
radiator shrouds for a second radiator
new curved rear wing

Sorry, as with most of my customers I do work for the parts become exclusive to them. Most of my customers are race teams.

I am making some Mazda FD parts which I own the development and moulds so I can sell them to anyone.

I think it looks awesome!!. I don't mind the lambo doors, but I would like to see someone install the automatic ones from Amemiya. The ones that pop out, then go up.

I remember seeing a video of the doors opening, but I cant find it.

Ian, you never cease to amaze me!!! Just for the record, Ian and the CF fabrication he does is so far advanced its hard to comprehend. In my book he is the god of this CF thing! anywhere against anyone his work will prevail. BTW, hows the RV coming along? wait til he shows that one I have had many delightful conversations with Ian and I am glad he keeps himself exclusive to his customers and their needs. You inspire me everytime I see your work brother.

Thanks for the kind words sonix7.

the RV project has slowed at the moment (not sure why but I am busy anyway)

I have been working in some wind power generating blades (big project)

Today I have another class coming through my factory to lean about vacuum infusion.
I do a couple of one day classes a month here, My major supplier of carbon fibre materials pressures me in to showing some of there other customers the process.

Ian, I can only imagine how busy you are. I swear I would give anything to be right there along side learning that with you. I bet its a tough deal with showing the process. I am still battling the CF shortage and I am right now looking for good training classes or something in advanced mold making etc. Vac infusion would be high on the list, so I can step up and get better at this. As you know, I kind of settled in with the vac bagging and have not even experimented with infusion yet. I have a lot to learn!! BTW, there is not enough words to express how proud I am of your work and they way you do it. When we have talked, you have been delightfully insightful and shared some very important stuff with me. I appreciate it. BTW, do you know who did these?

They look very top notch in quality. I just found this in another thread. Take care

Hi Sonix7, I don't know who did these, it is not my work, the parts do look good in the photo. I would like to see how they mount. I don't mind showing people what I do and how I do it as I am proud of my achievements, also the supplier that brings their customers through my shop for training supplies me with my carbon fibre materials and I have plenty of stock. I wish I could find staff that were interested in leaning and capable of producing quality parts, I have an American girl that has worked for me part time for 2 years who has gone back to the states for a few weeks and when she returns she will work full time and both my parents work for me but otherwise I have to do it all myself.

Lolz the weight he saved with the carbon stuff he put right back on with the lambo kits, those things ******* weigh a ton. I would know I install quite a few each month at my shop. The only thing I dont like it the front bumper other than that its hot.
