I have 18 's in FM-10's and let me tell you the ride is stiff as ****, even with the stock setup.

Also I have found my wheels to be very soft and thin. So, they might not crack but have already had a bent lip fixed since the begining of the summer.

the pole position is about 1.5x the weight of the spa.

they aren't the same material (trim or shell), they aren't dimensionally the same, and they certainly can't be considered similar in terms of 'bargaining'

I own a pair of these seats and let me tell you they are by FAR the best seat you can possibly buy for an FD. Most people fail to realize that these seats are not universal like all the other race seats out there. Meaning that left and right can not be switched. That's why there is so much room. If you were able to take a close look at one of these seats you would understand why they are worth their weight in gold.

Mazda had Recaro design these specifically for our cars. The RZ Carbon/Kevlar seats are so precisely made that it will allow you the most comfort and room and weigh next to nothing doing so. My two seats with the brackets weigh less than your one stocker with out the brackets. I have so much room I can actually even fit back seats and a roll bar!

I even thought about selling mine seperately from the car. As the majority or people would not understand what these seats are all about. The only downside is the price but then again most people who bought an FD did not do so because they wanted to save money. They did so because they wanted something special and rare. Which is what these seats are. And with every year that rolls on they get even harder to come by.

Dradon03,

thanks for the reply. I figured that much, just was not sure how much worse the ride would suffer.

No carbon cloth is not lighter. but the CF seats are thiner and thus lighter and still stronger

It all depends on what weight of cloth you use. Structurally speaking they say that CF has 20 times the strength of metal. With 200 percent the weight reduction, if I remember that correctly. And that all depends on the way its fabricated. You aren't going to get any better seats with what I hear about the Recaros. Made specifically for our cars is a big selling point to me.

fwiw, I got the quote on the rails for these seats.

specifically, I got a quote for the spirit-r rail, because it's the one with the fancy tilt adjustment (it looks like the RZ rail might not have this).

total rail (29 parts) cost, a whopping: 104,720yen (and you'd need to add the 5% sales tax).

In other words, you're looking at about US$1k - just for the parts.

might be a bit cheaper for the RZ version, because the tilt section is the most expensive: 57,500yen (!!!!!!)

and youre sure it's an original rail? maybe it has different degrees of tilt? maybe... I'm just wrong... lol

the parts guy asked me to specify whether it was for an RZ or a spirit-r, and the quote has (R) written after the tilt part....

but maybe I've just added 1+1 and made 3 :p

yep, it's the original rail. The RZ seats had the tilt feature as well.

LOL at this post.

You cannot beat RZ/R carbon seats. They are definately the drooling factory for every FD owner out there.
