Looking to get into Rx-7's

Ok my 1st.) Question is how do these cars do on the autocross and road corse?
2nd.) Is this the right generation to go with if building just a race car?
3rd.) What engine turbo or non-turbo?

You need to start reading up a LOT. Hit up the FAQ and the archives - these are pretty basic questions.

In a nutshell - the FD does great on the track and autocross, but it's not a cheap car to race. 1st and 2nd gen RX-7's are much cheaper racecars.

Also, all 3rd generation cars are twin turbo, period, no matter what your brother-in-law told ya .

lol, ur asking that on a rx7 forum.. what do u think the answer will be??? =P

not to mention factory 3rd Gen RX-7 have 50/50 weight distribution, sequential turbos to minimize lag, and its a 16 to 18 years of later technology and development compare to the classic porsche...

but like mentioned.... lots of questions can be found in FAQ and/or a keyword in the "search" box.. especially intercooler related questions...

1) The FD ruled auto-x for about a decade until the C5/Z06 took over. Even now, the FD is still a competitive car at the local/regional level. A well-driven FD will be one of the fastest cars at any track day.

2) If you are building an actual "race car", and not just a "track car", go get a Miata. Or maybe an FC.

3) They are all turbo, please READ THE FAQ thread.

A 1977 Porsche? Newer Porsches are a handful on a road course let alone an older one. Its probably going to be much more of a challenge to drive one of those to the limit than the FD; however older Porsches have enough problems driving on the streets let alone a road course.

Here's a mid 90's Porsche getting ready to get swallowed up coming out of a corner:

Comparing an older Porsche to the FD is an apples to oranges comparison. You just can't do it as they are cars from different eras.
