You call that long??? Try DC to Indianapolis (for Rotary Revolution). Now THAT was long. OMG...longest drive of my life.

With cheap airfare these days and high gas prices, there is no need for driving that far. You won't save money and probly will cost a lot more on gas and lodging.

That's funny. I used to make a trip longer than that (~150 miles) twice a weekend, going back and forth from Fort Hood to Fort Worth. No problems at all mechanically, and the rex was always very comfortable

I don't shy away from long trips with my 7. In fact, I enjoy them. I love driving from Boston to PA when I go to KD. That's half the fun. I've never felt like my car was unreliabe enough not to take. In fact, it's only stranded me twice. Both things that I kind of knew were coming, and just didn't have the funds to fix yet.
I want to drive mine across country and back again actually.
That being said, there are times whewn flying makes a hell of a lot more sense.

well this was my first long road trip ever in the rx7 and it had to be on a hot and humid day..

it was the sema show back in may in atlantic city..

we got up early but left late anyway at like 12 which was freakin HOT, of course a/c doesnt work in the fd LOL so i had to rely on 70mph breeze..and of course i had a headache going there and coming back so that was a nightmare as well..

mechanically i had some tranny problems, car wouldnt go into gear easy when at a stop..so i had to play around with that also..

not my best first time long road trip experience but im sure its not the last..

I tried my FD top speed during my road trip from LA-SF (back and forth). It is definitely a memorable experience. At 1 AM there aren't much ******** with fast cars. I've only met upgraded eclipse and mx-6. Be sure to check your plugs too. I've driven my fd with foul plugs, it's a pain in the butt as it kept on backfiring the whole journey.
