Smile Long Distance Haul

I just drove my 3rd gen from Houston to Calgary is 2.5 days (2,100 miles). One day I travelled as much as 1,000 miles. The bottom line is the car performed flawlessly and is seems to be as strong now as ever. And surprisingly, at 6'3", I was reasonably comfortable over the whole trip.

Prior to the trip I replaced the coolant and changed the oil. That was it.

if I don't drive my car hard (frequent boosting) it loads up....the harder I drive it, the better it runs

Sweet the FD loves the highway cooling I did a trip from SC home, and my lower back hurt. I think it would hurt from sitting anyway after an extended period of time.

I find that my FD is a bit uncomfortable for long hauls. But I'm a kinda wide guy. I do drive it to and from track days up to 500 miles each way on a regular basis. The FD does cruise well on the highway.

I'm very comfortable in my Miata and have driven on many 1000+ mile trips with the top down the whole way. Other than a little sunburn it's very enjoyable (and gets great mileage).

I did about 22-23mpg doing 80 mph most of the way (strictly highway miles).
