locking mechanism broke on driver side and can not open door inside or out
I've done a search and people have been saying to unbolt the lever from the inside and inspect the rod that pulls the latch butthat isn't the problem. The problem is the lock mechanism is broken somehow. When I pull the levers either inside or out it just feels like the passenger side when the door is locked so I know it isn't the levers. How would I get the door to open now? I want to take the panel off but the door needs to be open to do so. Does anyone have any ideas before I go crazy and start tearing into it with a flathead

i wouldn't go tearing into it w/ a flathead just yet...
have you tried taking off the plastic panels around the inside handle? mabie something in there is stuck. also the black pannel inside that coves the outside handle shouldnt be that hard to get off. then again, ive never tried it w/ the door shut.
last ditch effort, id call a locksmith, see if he could break into it without breaking it.

Just tossing out other possibilities...It's a long shot, but you may be able to access the latch pin bolts for the door by taking off the plastic panels around the back speakers. I've only had these panels off once though, so I'm not sure. That might be the absolute last resort though. Locksmith would be preferrable.

If you unbolt the exterior door handle from inside you should be able to push down on the rods to open the door the long 1 is the lock and the short is the release the latch.
