Liquid-air ic

Has some body use a in fuel pump as a water pump for a liquid-air ic set up? I'm just wundering since it will last longer than a regular pump and may be pump faster.

I'd just stick to a marine bilge pump. I've got a Jabsco one. It's built like a brick shithouse so I doubt it'll burn out anytime soon. Plus, you don't want it to pump too fast.

The seals in a fuel pump may or may not be rated to pump water. That is an idea, though.

Fuel pumps are easy/cheap enough that it might be worth trying.

if they seal fuel, they will seal water. seals usually get eat up by fuel, but I'm talking about a inline fuel pump. I just think they are more durable. If you put a voltage regulator you can make it variable speed.

Many fuel pumps are of "wet" construction and use the fuel as a coolant in and around the motor. They are also pressure equalized inside to provide a long life. (therefore the seals are different than in a water pump.) I would not recommend attempting to use it to pump water--I don't think it would last.

Try johnson pump. These are smaller than the jabsco and I have had good results with them. I don't have the model # off hand, but if you want it PM me and I will find it for you.

The diaphram pumps I use for my water injection kits are ideal for what you are looking for. They pump 1 gallon per minute and run from 60 - 100 psi depending on what model. You can view them at www.coolingmist.com about midway down.

These are designed as a demand pump so they have instant response and are designed to take a beating.
