Lesson in Brakes - What Fits What?

I have heard that the 87-91 TII brake caliper and pads are the same as the 93-95? True or False?

Also - are all of the OEM brake set-ups the same for all 93-95 models?

The TII calipers use the same pad shape, but they're not the same calipers. All FDs came with the same brakes. R-models incorporated brake "ducts" into the underpan/lip spoiler.

Oh, what the hell. Let's reincarnate an old thread.

I was looking through Mazdatrix's brake parts section and noticed the '95's front calipers have different part numbers than the '93-'94's.

http://www.mazdatrix.com/j-1brake.htm

I wonder what this is about. I've never seen a mention of this. Has anyone compared the newer set to the older set?

Thanks.

Old thread....

89-91 front brake calipers are not the same as 93-95 brake calipers.

They do bolt up, they have the same brake pads and are forward/backwards compatible.

My previous post adressed this part, specifically.
