leather seat wear and replacement
leather seat wear and replacement
My black leather seats have worn the black off of the lumbar drivers side and was wondering if anyone knows how much new leather uphostry costs or if there is somethign I can use to color it back to black that will be permanent. Thanks!
There are both dyes and leather seat covers available.
If the leather isn't too badly cracked, I'd try the dye first.
It's certainly cheaper. Dyes are available at a number of places. www.leatherique.com is one of them.
Replacement leather seat covers were recently discussed on a couple of threads of this forum. A search should turn them up. If it were me, I'd go to a professional to install the seat covers. It takes hog ring tools and the like, and of course an experienced hand always does a better job.

Remember that the entire seat does NOT need to be replaced. If it is the lumbar support section, that one piece can be replaced from the rest, and should run you about $100

I spent two evenings, about 12 hours total to do 2 seats. It was time consuming and very hard work. But they look really good. when I went to the track last week with my S2000 friends they loved the seats and did not believe me that I installed it myself.
check it out.
