are later j-spec motors a good option?

or even worth swapping in (the stocker's done)? just wondering what's better or worse about them and what kindof extra work it would take. I wanna stick w/ a 2 rotor, so either swap in a low miles j-spec (I could use a new tranny anyway), or rebuild the stocker. I know late model j-specs have better turbos, any other differences?
