Late model year RX7 facts

Guys,

Where can I find out about RX7s from model year 1997 to 2000? I mean the technical spec.s and where they are improved from the earlier models? Thanks. I found a 2000 RX7 for sale in London and am thinking of buying it.\\

Cheers

Nick

j-spec is probably what the car would be since i dont think they made a euro spec FD through '00. crazy wrong side drive. the root site in the link also has pictures i believe, in '99 the FD got a new front bumper and spoiler (very nice pieces), along with better flowing turbo's and turbo piping that boosted output to ~280hp over 265, in the RZ version. new wheels. revised coolant passages in the engine itself.

The 1997-2000 models cover both the series-7 (Jan-96 - Dec-98) & the series-8 (Jan-99 - Aug-02)

Whilst the series-7 is basically the same as the series-6 (Nov-91 - Dec-95) there are quite a few changes for the series-8.

The series-8 specs can be found at DMRH web site - FD RX-7 pages

Plenty of series-7 stuff in NZ web sites as they imported all the versions.

Thanks. I found a 99, silver type RS with 35,000 miles for about 15000 pounds = $25,000... and a 2000 type R with 16000 miles for 17,000 pounds = $28,000. I am inclined to go for the lower mileage one but what would you guys choose. what should I look out for?

Cheers

Being in London, i am also inclined to look at the Renault Clio sport V6, the R32 GTRs and the BMW M coupe. That's about it I guess. Anyone partial to the Renaults?

Hi Nick,

Go for the rx7 mate, the rs will have bilstein suspension as standard a strengthen torsen ltd slip diff, exhuast back box has 10% less back pressure, the rs has bigger brake discs, the 99 soec front end has better cooling capabilities than the earlier models for both the oil coolers and the intercooler and induction kit. turbos wheels is slighty smaller but has superior blade design and better seals on turbo unit, the ecu runs higher boost than earlier models boost pattern of 12-10-12
That's the main difference the others are little sutle stuff like inetrior trimming etc.

Both cars are the series-8 version so your getting the last update.

As written in that web site I pointed out for you to look at, the TYPE-RS is the better car by far.

Start to modify both cars & the TYPE-R starts to look like value-for-money
