Knock sensor's role

Hi there,

How does the knock sensor interact with the ECU? specifically I have an Apexi power fc. While my engine is apart for rebuilt, my mechanic noticed the knock sensor is bad. Does the ecu retard timing based on the knock sensor reading?

The Apexi PFC does nothing with the Knock reading other than display it. You would need a retarding system like the J&S.

I am fairly certain the PFC does not retard timing due to knock. Ask this question in the Power FC section, I believe Chuck will confirm.

Are you in Walnut Creek?
