Key won't go all the way in the door

On my Driver's side door I can't seem to get the key to go all the way in. So I can't lock or unlock it. I've tried two different keys I had, nothing. I goes in most of the way and then just stops. Any ideas?

Is the little plastic piece that pushes away when you put the key in broke? That's what happened to me a year or two ago. I was unable to put the key in either. Had to buy a new lock key assembly and remove the door handle to install it.

Since i've owned the car i've never had that little plastic piece on the drivers side. Are you saying it might be getting in the way of the key?

Same thing happened to me two years ago on the driver side door. I had to use a flashlight to see in the keyhole and pick out the plastic pieces with a tweezer, then the key could fit back in again.

this happens---you can remove the lock cylinder, dismantle it,clean out all the debris and reassemble.take care to keep the tumblers in the correct position and do not lose any of the tiny springs!

the plastic trap door probably was stuck behind the key hole with the return spring. as stated - remove from the inside, clean, lube and put back together.

All fixed. I was working on changing my door handles and when I had the door handle out i got a lot of small bits of plastic out of the key hole. Now my key is working perfectly.

I made a new plastic piece a few weeks ago for the same reason.

Just used a piece of scrap from the original FD battery box.

That little trapdoor keeps dirt out of the lock.
