Lightbulb Keep my current car or try for the RX-7? Need some info...

Ok right now I'm wondering whether or not I should keep my '01 Toyota Celica GT with about 8k miles on it or sell it and get this '93 Twin-Turbo RX-7 in the paper. Only thing is that the RX-7 has about 50k miles and I need the car to last me at least 4+ more years (preferabbly more). How long do rotary engines last because I heard most rotary engines start getting major problems like around 70k miles. If that's true what do most people do? Do they swap in an imported engine from Japan?

I also realize a couple maintenance items will need be changed eventually cuz of the mileage. But specifically what parts do you guys think will need to be changed. Also, when looking at the car what kinds of signs should I look for of bad maintenance. I hear a lot about how rotary engines can be daily driven except that you need to maintain it a lot (something which I have always done). I was wondering what specifically needs to be checked and changed?

Any info you guys can supply me with would be much appreciated. I came over here from www.newcelica.org because I asked the same question there but we only had 1 RX-7 owner over there and said to come on over here. I know power wise the two cars don't even compare, the RX-7's a true sports car that'd whoop my GT out in every category but I'm just mainly worried about the mileage of the car and if the RX-7 can actually last a long time.

keep your old car

I love my FD but your requirements leave you with one option in my opinion...keep your car.

The 7 will require lots of love and $$ (potentially).

Great second car or for someone with the means and time to spend on her.

Its like having a trophy wife....very time consuming and very expensive!!
