KD Rotary

Hi all, I just bought a '94 that had all of it's work done at KD Rotary.. I'm in Cali and the car is being shipped out. Anyone have feedback or personal experience from these guys? Also, the rebuild was only 8k miles ago but the car has been sitting, pretty much untouched for the last 7 years, those 8k miles are from 2002 until now with literally 1k miles in the last 7 years...

Thanks in advance and hoping KD is a shop w/ a decent, or better, rep.

They have one of the better reputations in the country. Dave is a good guy, super nice and knows his stuff. In general, I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

Over the years he's had health issues and others have gotten involved and that's where the water has gotten a bit murky. I've torn down engines from KDR/Speed1 over the years, and some were in good shape, and some.... not so much.

I'd be more concerned about the car sitting and things like frequency of coolant changes. The rotary engine is a sandwich of iron and aluminum and those dissimilar metals can lead to internal corrosion as the ethylene glycol/water mix loses it's anti-corrosive properties.

Thanks for the feedback and like you said I'm hoping these years of the vehicle on 'ice' aren't more deadly than misuse.

I'm having the car shipped directly to Lucky 7 and let those guys sort it out.

Pretty much as goodfellaFD said. Super clean work. There perfectionists. Take very long. There swamped with work and a new owner pushing them to do the work faster then they can.
