okay, i was messin around and came up on http://www.ooparts-international.co.jp/frameset.html and found some kazama motor mounts. they appear to be cnc'ed aluminum and i did a conversion that came out to be $125. i was wondering if anyone knew if the price was per mount. also, anyone tried them or know any other way to get info on them? a lot cheaper than oem and other solid mounts i've seen

 

That price should be for the set. I know I have some blue aluminum engine mounts that cost right around $150 with shipping.

is the only place i have seen that sells kazama so far thats located in the usa. these guys put it up on ebay so i would check there.

 

will they just bolt up in the stock location?

What are the drawbacks to solid motor mounts? More stress on the engine, tranny, suspension, rough ride? I will need to replace mine soon too and if there aren't too many drawbacks to solid mounts then I will get them instead of paying twice or more for Urethane mounts.

My car is pretty much only for spirited canyon drives, track roadracing/solo, and the occasional date.

 

i think the biggest drawback are vibrations into the passenger compartment

 

You can make your own Urethane mounts for far less then the alternatives.

 

Buy a puck of Urethane and have it machined down to the right size? What is the right size? Thanks.

I talked to Option Imports about these mounts a while back ago. The owner was telling me that the stock carriers need modification to even use both mounts and that they have to special order the other-side as they do not usually stock them because of this.

I would say go with urethane + torque brace.
