just sold my rx7

hey whatsup guys... just wanted to say it was fun being a part of this community but im very happy to have sold my 93 rx7...... its a fun car to look at but the gas mileage on a mild street build is just rediculous... i'd get 280-300km's to a full tank....

not only that but they break down a lot... its kinda like fine china almost... just glad to have left the money pit behind.....

300km? that's 186 miles.

something was wrong with your car or you have one heavy as foot. I get 300 - 375 miles out of one tank. The 375 is highway by the way.

I also have a mild streetport. See sig for mods

i get anywhere from 170-220miles, street driven with a few WOT runs, at least once everytime during the drive, 1680cc injectors.

On highway ive seen to get about 13-16mpg depending on how many WOT runs. which would equal about 260-320 miles. If i were highway whole tank.

So i dont think its too bad.

FD's are money pits we all know that.

I get about 18mpg around town. If you get way less than that, either you really have a heavy foot or something isn't tuned right, or something is flat broken (water temp sensor, too much fuel pressure, too rich idle, etc.).

Even a very modified FD should be able to get acceptable fuel economy around town. Just because you have a big turbo and big injectors doesn't change the motor itself.

Have a good one man, good luck with your next ride. Hopefully whoever bought your FD can get it running properly and enjoy it.

Well congrats on selling your car but I would think you'll eventually miss it.

Actually I am the one who bought it; I'm not sure why some people are laughing. Anyways the car is a high mileage chasis, fresh rebuild, with streetport with more overlap for better top end; at least thats what i got from talking to the engine builder (www.mpsys.ca). The compression on the motor was good between 115-120 psi on both rotors. Vaccum at idle is around 12-14 which im told is normal for a streetport with more overlap.

The car has a few minor issues that I know of:
- exhasut leak (i think its between the DP and main cat)
- slight oil leak (i think its one of the oil return lines from the turbos)
- AC doesnt work (i havent even looked into that yet)

Anyways here is a pic:

Some people just don't have ***** big enough or pockets deep enough to deal with a true performance car. What are you driving now, a Toyota Prius ?

good luck with it nfa.
93red- you will eventually miss it. i miss my car when it's in the shop for 2 weeks.

sidenote- i got 20.1 miles per gallon on my way down to rotorfest and my car runs rich and with 550 primaries and 1200 secondaries. my friends car with less mods got 18.x mpg, so i was surprised. i get anywhere from 320-375 miles per full tank as well. that is with some WOT pulls as well.

they way i look at it, any car that is a performance car is a money pit. You wanna fix a car up, your gonna be spending alot of cash for the build and alot more for the upkeep. So when you get your next car trust me you will fall into the same pit.
