The pricing of the FDs are all over the place now. I was looking at a Silver R2 with about 10K in mods on it... Pretty much the reliability ones with a M2 med radiator, and exhaust, SSR rims, and some other things. All the parts have about 6000 miles on them. It has 27K miles on it. He wants $29K for it.. I offered him $26K. Said it was too low and that the car is worth more then that to him. Which I understand. My thinking was that if I went out and bought a stock FD I would probably be paying about 23Kish for it.. and then I would end up doing most of those mods anyway. I think in the long run I would save some money if I did just buy it off of him for that much... But I dont know... Its something that I have been thinking very hard about the past couple of weeks. What do you guys think? And we are talking about the Silver R2 here.

Goober, that's a lot of coin even with only 27K on it, imo.
I've been looking for the past few months and have found cars on both extremes. Of course your going to get what you pay for...I just think 29K is waayyy to damn much! I have found some single conversions with a lot of ton of upgrades with decent miles in perfect condition for a lot less than 29K. I'm actually considering one right now. good luck and let me know what you do...I am local remember.!

I wouldn't put it past him.

That's great you got the 25k for the car. Tomorrow I'm going to get a 2nd part time job so I can afford a car payment on an FD around summer time. I'm hoping I can find a car in the 15-20k range with low miles and basic mods done to it.

You get what you pay for so true
85 % of the time if you buy for a bargan price plan on spending some money. Some of us get lucky
some of us have bad luck but the bottom line is that if you plan on mods or making the car better
who cares your spending your cash if you bought it for 8 grand or 20.
I have also heard that low mileage examples are now bringing good money and are in demand.
I bought mine because the body style was unreal at the time and different(until new new corvette).
I also was lucky enough to have a company car so the miles on mine have stayed low.
Traded in my wifes tsi eagle talon on mine(a good wife/no papers)and never looked back.
Got mine after prices settled(dollar vs yen)with 8k on it owned by a lady doctor that had traded it in for
an suv ?? for 24000.
Would I sell my near mint 31000 mile r1 ??? absoulutely
However keep in mind I once owned a Citroen d s21

i searched forever

I combed junk yards and auctions for quite a while before finding a good seven that I could mod out myself and I finally found a seven at an auto auction for 4k with taxes and other fees. I'm glad i found one for that cheap becuase it left me with a butt load of money I could throw into mods. If I were to by say a rx7 that costed 15k (it wold haev probaby been in better condition though) I wouldn't have much moeny left over. BUt you do get what you pay for. The car was an automatic with blown turbos, hit in the front passanger but repair poorly by the last owner. I've never seen an automatic in such awful condition. Interior was dirty but cleanable, body had no damge though, a plus!! Frame needs to be pulled a little. no problem with that. But over all i'm happy and probably keep the car for a long time.

No it isn't, You just don't know the market....I have seen low milage cym's go for high twenties. (they fetch about 4 grand more than the others). Last week a buddy of mine paid 23,000 for a low milage car. If the market dictates 22-30,000 that's what the cars are worth..not what you think. Last year the bb value went UP two grand on these cars.

Lol Bill. That's not hard to believe. Any motor can reach 7500 miles, it's the chassis that's hard to believe .
