Just Saying Hi

Just wanted to make my presence known. I've stumbled upon these boards not too long ago when I did a report for my automotive teacher on the rotary motor, but I just registered so I can actually use the search. I've been in love with RX-7's since I was little and my mom had a 1st gen. I'm researching with every second I have, specifically on the FD and the 13b. I've had a thing for Mazda in general, and own a '98 protege to get me around now, but one day I hope to purchase an FD for myself. I'm still searching through everything on these forums, and I'm amazed at all the information I've come upon. While I'm going to be searching for everything and anything I can find, I wanted to ask if anyone can point me in the direction of a site, or even better, a book, that explains the 13b, or step by step instructions or rules on rebuilding a rotary. I hope to find an old one i can just tinker with to learn on my own, and eventually be able to work on them all. My goal is to eventaully be able to do all the work on the motor myself, and be fairly profecient at it as well. I'm going to UTI in a few weeks for their automotive program, and my life has been around cars, so I have it in my blood....I already do all my own work, and just want to expand and specialize into this amazing car and motor. Well...thanks, and maybe I'll be able to put up a helpful post or two!

RotaryAviation.com sells a 13B overhaul video. I believe you can also find a pdf of the original Rotary Engine book by Kenichi Yamamoto at rotaryrefs.net as well as some other goodies. Get the RacingBeat catalog from racingbeat.com- it has tons of good tips on engine specific modifications. I think it's like 6 bucks. If interested in tuning instruction, goto efi101.com.

Good luck at UTI. A long time ago I had planned to attend but I got sidetracked.
