Just purchased new Rx-7, have some questions

I recently purchased a 93 Rx-7 and I really don't know to much about it. One of my first questions is when I start the car the oil pressure needle rides in the middle of the guage. If I drive it around and come to a stop the oil pressure drops to almost zero. Is this a normal thing for rotaries or is there a problem? I was also wondering where good place to start looking for parts would be? If anyone could tell me some things I should know about a Rotary, I am open for any advice. I absoultely love my new car.

First of all, welcome to the Rotary world and have fun taking care of the car. Secondly, as the matter of fact, the oil pressure and temperature gauge on the 7 are known to be inaccuracte, but still, with the flucuating needle, you should check the engine lube oils. And might as well do a lube change at the same time. Make sure you're not overfilling/underfill the engine, that way it can ensure you a better and more reliable car to drive around. Another thing is that you can always use the stickies on the forum here, they have so much information here about our cars. Heres a url for you.
helpful links

The thread above have lots of helpful link in there which can help diagnostic and lots of "how-to"s for newbies around. Also, the search button on the top of our page is a very friendly function to use, it can almost get you straight to the topic/problem as long as you are narrowing down your problem with key words. Anyways, good luck and have fun driving the FD, also post some pictures of the car if you can.

First: the forum FAQ. It's loaded with good info about 3rd gens. It would have helped you in your buying and selection process. I hope you got a good one.

The oil pressure sender fails more often than most. Replacing the sensor is a common solution, and considering they never seem to last forever you might consider doing that right away.

Malloy is the most popular source for OEM parts, see the FAQ for contact info.

Read the FAQ itself, and follow/read the links under "Advice" and buyers' guides.

my oil pressure reads from just below 1/4 way to 3/4 on the gauge when warm depending on rpm, if it reads that low in higher rpm you probably have a problem. Ther is a boat load of info on this forum just use the search feature and you should be able to find the info your looking for. These two sites have alot of good info for new owners http://www.fd3s.net/index.html and http://robrobinette.com/ i find them very usefull.
