You can really tell how much Chevy was influenced by the FD in the design for the C5

DrunkenBowler, absolutly gorgeous car, great photo work.

I personally feel that the C5 Corvette was inspired directly by the FD RX7. If you look at the body lines, the placement of key features and even the interior it is clear they looked to the FD as a basis of their style.

Unfortunately they had to differentiate it somehow and took many of the glorious features that make a FD sop beautiful away. Most notiblyl the square booty of the C5 compared to the curvy styling of the FD. Now I'm not saying C5's are ugly but definately not as sexy as FD's, they are also a bit beefier size-wise.

The FD was a timeless design and nothing will be able to match it in looks, style, or class

from my opinion gm just basically updated the rx7 from the rear 1/4 panels forward for the c5 vette. i mean the 2 bodies look very very similar. either way i wouldnt mind having both cars. ahha

I ran into some rich punk kid I knew back in high school.. he heard about me getting an RX-7 and started saying, 'Wanna race? I'll cream your Mazda.' I stopped him and said, 'Buddy I'll up my boost and straiten you out.' Although I would really need much more to beat him I'm sure. :\

EDIT: Point of story was, stupid spoiled kid got a C5 from his parents.

I like the C5 okay, the rear-end is ugly, they fixed it in the C6 by adding some dimension.

That is so great TTB, it was good that most took it in good humor too. Looks like a couple die-hard fans were offended though. :\

That pic is my background now BTW, really good work, really great car!
