i have just enough money to get an rx7, its in good shape, and im sure id have money to fix problems in the begining. if the motor and turbos are in good shape, what other expenses on the car do i need to worry about? if i dont have alot of money should i look for a different type of car?

 

Before you buy it, take the FD and have it thoroughly inspected by a mechanic that knows FD. The inspection will cost some money but it is worth it.

 

Take it over to Benson Mazda and have Bruce Blang take a look at it.

 

the motor and turbos aren't the only things that cost a lot of money

lots of subsystems can be almost as expensive:

rear suspension bushings: ~$1000 to replace all (w/labor)

60k service (all new fluids and filters, flush coolant.etc) - $450

oil metering pump: $2200 w/labor

etc. etc.

This doesn't even include aesthetic items such as:

Paint: $4-5000 (for a high quality job)
interior: god only knows
etc.

Just things to think about

 

well the car is out of state in kentucky and im in texas, so i dont know how i would have it inspected, i cant really afford any cars locally. dilemmas.....
