Talking Just anouther "it's out!" post

I popped my motor in my 93 and bought a wrecked 94 for what most places in SoCal wanted to rebuild my motor alone. The 94 with 64,000 miles on it has a great interior, new Mazda suspension, Mazda vacuum/oil/water hose job (yes $4 to $141 for each line replaced plus labor), brand new twin turbo 6,000 miles ago. One of the Mazda receipts is 12 pages and equal to a small house down payment. 3,000 miles on a $6,000 Pineapple motor with 3mm ceramic apex seals, street port ect ect. This guy REALY loved his car. So now I have to pull my motor at home and my motor pull was that a pain in the ***! After I had pulled most of the items listed in the Atkins “how to R&R third gens” VHS tape (I decided to pull it w/trans and down pipe) Roman came over to help with the actual motor pull. The first problem Roman (rzograbian) and I had was the studs that hang down from the motor mounts were catching in the cups in the cross member for the motor mounts, while the trans was hitting the tranny tunnel. Then the AC lines and the down pipe were causing problems so the down pipe was removed to gain wiggle room and the AC lines were bent out of the way. The biggest problem was my stupid 20 year old engine hoist wouldn't lift the motor high enough to clear the front bumper. Thank god Roman brought over a leveler and rear engine hook that my motor was missing. We had to lower the body by removing the front tires and set the cross member just high enough so it wouldn't drag on the engine hoist legs. We used the leveler to get the pan onto the hood latch then I climbed into the engine compartment and swung the tail of the trans over while Roman pulled on the hoist. Thanks again Roman! I literally could not have done it without your help and Patience! After it was out of course two more helpers showed up, Batman and Maxboost at about 8pm. Thanks for trying guys it was nice talking with you.

that does sound like a pain. Can't wait to see some pics of it finished.

Looks fun -- where in So. Cal. are you? If you're in the SD area and you need a monkey to hold your tools or to turn your wrench(no, not THAT wrench), lmk.

I get the 94 some time in January. I will probably leave the 93 motor together to use as a reference until I get the 94 motor in my car. I have never tried something like this that had so much crap bolted to it. I have only done motor jobs on 1955 to 1972 Chevys. I was intimidated but now that I am past the point of no return I feel excited to have taken on this task. I welcome any one who is thinking about doing this yourself to PM me and I will share any insight I can. Granted this has been the easy part and I have a long road ahead and I will travel it with a smile on my face at least for now.
