JDM twins

How do I identify the JDM twins from the US twins ?? Are there markings or a stamp to indicate the year/model ?? Also , what are the performance advantages / disadvantages of the two in comparison ??

Look at the part number, engraved on the secondary compressor housing. The US-spec twins start with "N3A1", the 96+ 260HP Japanese twins start with "N3C1", and the 280HP (RZ) twins start with "N3G1".

The N3G1 turbos have the abradeable seal in the compressor housing and a slightly smaller (1mm) turbine wheel to spool up quicker.
