How much does the flight to Japan and the hotel cost to inspect the car? Or are you just sending money for something you've never seen in person and how do you secure the transaction, insure you actually get a car after paying?

It only costs pennies on the dollar to get fiberglass work done in Nambia but I'm not doing it. : )

What i dont understand is why the gov makes it so god damn hard to import a car from japan...charge us $300 a car and you get money and we're happy we didnt spend $100,000 to register our damn car.

- it's because if you let in the Japanese cars, then you've got to let everyone in, including vehicles that are not safe. Would you buy a BMW lookalike made in Bangladesh for $10k less? Would you be angry if the flywheel grenades and you end up with shards of metal in your legs and feet? That is a chance that the government is not willing to take.

These laws exist for reasons, even if you don't understand them.

this thread isn't "just like all the others", most of the others like this are about street use.

this thread is not about street use. k?

you should get hit with the 150% value of the car thing on import, but you get that back. not importing the car into the US under race rules should make it a lot easier, and it would even be legal if you actually are doing it for that. which just so happens to be the point of the thread. funny how that works huh?

so if you know someone in japan or are otherwise going to be there, it shouldn't be hard to source a decent running S6 for decent money and send it over.

this has nothing to do with driving on the street in the US.
