LHD 300zx 15? super funny when you see these in canada, you go "OMG a lhd 300zx, SICK"..ratio of rhd to lhd 300zx being like 5:1 here. not actually but you get the idea.

you didnt say silvia swap. you said s13 swap, thats the chassis code. im not sure why you listed those other mods though, sounds just like another run of the mill 240sx to me.

anyways i actually kind of dig the wheels. its different. wish the lips were stepped though!

Probably because I was in the middle of a 24 hour shift when i posted. Anyway no big deal, just a typo and no reason to disrail the thread. I'll admit you were correct LOL my bad.

In other news. Garagespec I got your PM and I'll get you back soon. I'm currently covered in black much from polishing the alternator and trying to finish the assembly of my build.

If you stay with twins (like me, just upgraded to BNRs) its a chore to take the turbos out with the engine still in the car but it can be done.

This is what Ive come up with thus far as a mod list. Dont flame me, Ive been reading for a couple of hours. If you having anything relavent to add or critisize, def chime in. Im new to this triangular motor thing...As I said above, it has coilovers, bov, Border downpipe/full exhaust (no cats), HKS drop in filter, R-magic grounding kit. Im also going to do a compression check and full tuneup (oil and all fluids, spark plugs, etc.) prior to doing anything else.

modded/ducted stock airbox
oil cooler setup of some sort
big radiator
PowerFC and dyno tune
FMIC and all hard piping
(and perhaps some bigger secondary inj. if needed)

I also need some opinions on spark plugs. I see people running 2 or one plug, and 2 of the a different plug. Anything else I should look for prior to going crazy with this thing. Im looking for a reliable 300whp. Ive never had a rotary, but Im down to learn as much as possible. Im good at the car thing, just want to ensure that this thing is prepared to handle what Im gonna be throwing at it.

Suspension/LSD/chassis is simple to me compared to everything else. I know what needs to be done there.

Thanks

-Rich

haha im just going to cheat off you.

still debating if i wanna get rid of the s13.4

akunochi 02-21-11 06:58 PM

I look at it this way. You are looking for reliability so cooling should be at the foremost of your concern. Heat kills the FD.

Before a new RAD and FMIC I would look into the RX7store Vmount or defined autoworks. Not going to cost much more and will see much better cooling results.

No need to mess with your secondary injectors.

You will need to upgrade from the torsen diff if you want to drift well.

PowerFC is always good to open doors but not needed yet.

Look into your clutch if it is stock before you go stomp it at the track.

Also following in the Howard Coleman cult AI will save your motor.

GarageSpec 02-21-11 09:07 PM

yeah I like the idea of the vmounts. If the cost isnt to crazy, Ill definitely go vmount instead of front mount. I saw one user who had a dope vmount setup on this site. It had all the aluminum ducting and everything, pretty rad stuff. It def seems more efficient than the standard front mount.

Take your time on the the PM man. As it turns out, my car still isnt here. I hate the waiting game very badly. I waited forever for my Y32 Gloria to get here. Its sucks, but ends up worth it!

Thanks for the input guys, and not for flaming a rotary newb.

And as far as general maintanence, what shoiuld I do to this thing when I get it. Im changing all fluids (oil, diff, tranny), plugs, fuel filter, etc. But is there anything I should do that I dont know of being a rotary newb?

-thanks again

Turbo II FC 02-22-11 12:21 AM

It would be a good idea to purchase a OMP adapter and/or run premix to cut down on carbon deposits. Maybe an internal steam cleaning would be beneficial, just search for it.

GarageSpec 02-22-11 12:33 AM

Ive been reading how people are running premix on a couple of different sites. I know mu buddy does in his. I think thats funny

GarageSpec 02-23-11 10:28 PM

Still no car fellas....Im getting shitty :egrin:

GarageSpec 02-24-11 10:47 PM

DONT EVER USE DIRECTAUTO TRANSPORT FOR ANYTHING

they jerked me off for about 10 days now. I put in an order with National and already spoke with a driver. The car will be at my house on Wednesday.

I also just did a big order with Rotary Performance. Just all the essential maintanence/tuneup stuff for now.

They seem to be a good place. They were nice on the phone at least. But you rotary heads prolly already know that.

Just an update.

GarageSpec 02-28-11 11:12 PM

she will be here tomorrow.

Got my order in from Rotary Performance yesterday. Did a full tune up and changed all fluids. It runs like a champ. I dialed in the coilovers as well. The engine bay is extremely clean as was the inside of the intake manifold and TB. We did a compression check and came up with 100 psi in one and 94 psi in the other. We had an FSM on hand which was very handie never having worked on one. One of the plug wires was a little tough to get to.

To preface this, When I recieved the car it was smoking quite a bit. After the tuneup, no smoking and no stumbling at all. I havent beat on her yet (waiting on my powerFC) but it seems to pull very hard in partial throttle situations. The clutch is a bear. I think it has some sort of clutch that isnt stock. Im sure Ill find out at some point in the future.

Yeah, so thats it thus far. Going in for a complete resto for all the bodywork and paint in the next couple of weeks. By then my wheels will be done, and it will rule.

Sorry for the crap pics. I will get some more with my 50D at some point. Youll get the idea though

I havent been on for a while. Ive done quite a few things since I posted last. Air pump delete kit, pullys, Power FC. Also just ordered the block off plate kit from Banzai as well as their tranny and diff brace. Ill be installing these as well as new diff bushings when I get everything moved to the Eastcoast. Car is coming along nicely.

It did bust the radiator about a week ago. I replaced with a Koyo N flow. Also replaced the coolant hoses, new therm, etc.

I confirmed that the car is an R1 as well. I ordered FEED skirts and rear diffuser too. Im gonna keep the stock R1 lip until I find something I like as much as the factory one.

theorie 04-25-11 11:28 AM

That's probably the worst grounding job I've seen. Looks like someone dumped a box of wires on top of your motor.

yeah. That was the first day I got the car. There were a couple of things I had to fix when I first got it.

Its all better now. Ive done quite a bit to her since she arrived.

kalinakona 04-27-11 11:51 PM

Have you gotten the wheels on yet?

GarageSpec 04-27-11 11:59 PM

I mounted them and then sold them to a buddy. I want something wider. in the front. They looked okay, but I could do better. Im trying to grab a set of gnarley offset Equips. OR my other option is to put different wheels on mt Gloria and use the Locksmice Dukes that are on that on the FD. Which Im leaning toward. I want differnt wheels on the Y32

GarageSpec 05-26-11 11:30 PM

drifted her for the first time last weekend. It went well. stayed cool and never missed a lick. I just need more power. Ive been super busy lately as I have relocated across the country. I will update with new pics soon. Im trying to decide what the best and most cost effective way to go single at the moment......

GarageSpec 06-01-11 11:06 PM

banzai block off kit, killing the rats nest, and going non sequential next week. Then running the Maxton Mile with her in late June.
