Jdm exhaust options

Exhaust brands and offset. What kind of exhaust is this on the yellow fd?

how does it compare to the racing beat single tip ?

i was looking along the lines of this style type of exhaust not a huge bazooka.. something that’s looks clean and almost stock.

What exhaust is this?

And this? Is it this same trust exhaust??

From my PM to you for others to chime in on -

There are probably over a hundred different cat-backs made for the FD. Some are common, some not, some are available new, some not.

In general, the larger the muffler can, the quieter it will be. If you have a stock main cat, most any exhaust will be relatively quiet. When you put a midpipe on that's when things get LOUD, sometimes stupidly so.

Only exhausts that I would stay away from is the Apex N1 Dual and the Blitz Nut-Spec. The N1 dual fits like crap, sounds like crap, and will melt your rear bumper. The Blitz just sounds awful for some reason, fit is OK though.

Other Apexi exhausts are great, though.

You will see "JASMA" a lot of times on Japanese exhausts. That's a certification board that certifies that a muffler isn't too loud, that's it. Many sellers think it's a brand, it's not. Having a JASMA logo/plate doesn't mean it will be super quiet though - again, these exhausts are usually tested on a car with a stock main cat.

Racing Beat and Tanabe are good ways to go - good quality, fit, sound, etc. RB has traditionally been made by RSR in Japan for RB, I think that's still the case.

Not sure what exhaust is in that Ebay listing, kind of looks like an old Greddy or something. Comes with a midpipe too.

I have a GP Sports cat-back that I love, I've owned the only 2 of them I've ever seen in the US. The other one I sold to a guy with a Fortune body kit that lived here for a while, I assume it's still on that car, haven't heard from him in years.

The Ebay cheapie exhausts are worth avoiding, they typically are stupid loud, fit like crap, blow all their packing out in 6 months....not worth it.

Couple things I don’t like about the super dragger:

it exits out not (centered out of the exhaust opening)

the tone of it is so muffled which is not a bad thing.. I don’t really like the super tingy metallic sound and tone the rotary usually makes..

The decel is louder than the accel throttle.. lol. It looks like and sounds like a big trombone or something.

but the exhaust volume and tone isn’t that bad. Compared to other videos now and other exhausts I think my super dragger is quieter than others.. even quieter than the racing beat single and dual...??

thought I would like the tanabe better or similar (Greddy/trust) but I might be able to live w the super dragger for now.. lol

I’ll make a few more vids of the fd now that it’s back up running pretty good!

only thing is it’s down on boost! It is making 6-7 psi.. both turbos first and second..
