Question JDM Center Console Buttons

Does anybody know what the middle button behind the shifter does? Specifically for a 2000 JDM model - I know different regions had different functions. Cheers

Our JDM right hand drive cars all have a blank in that center position too.

BUT

One of the JDM cars I imported here to Australia did have something in that position- the little switch/light thing for the factory sonar reversing aid system (an expensive Japan-only option for FDs sold over there in Mazda dealers) That was the only time I've ever seen that blank position filled with anything.

Mostly it was a spare for 99% of the FDs sold worldwide otherwise.

I did see a couple examples with the little light and wondered what that was too. That explains it perfectly. Thanks all!
