japan hoods???

hey, i just noticed that the some of the people in japan have stock hoods which are lifted in the back by washers, is this the newest rage? wont that let water to hit the back of the engine? why not just remove the rubberstripping? is it safe, i would think that it would put extra strain on the hoodlatch.

here are some photo of what im talking about.

WOW, Nope that is old a ballz.... That is originally a drifter thing... But one question how would water get inside if you lift the hood but it wont if you remove the weather stripping? that doesnt make much sense, does it to you? Also it does nothing to the hood hatch. They actually sell kits to do this do to the fact the bolts in the aft part of the hood isnt long enough. I few big companies did and still do this... THE only bummer about it, is if you have the A/C on for the windshield and that hot air comes out the engine it tends to fog it up a little, Thats just what I heard, maybe the guys that drive those cars can tell you more..

American car guys have been doing that with stock hoods for a while. It's kind of a cheap cowl induction hood. I think the american cars you can just adjust the hinges to make it do that.

i just did this today, i didn't notice major difference in intake/water temp though. I'll open it up some more tomorrow.

wat i did was I took out both nuts on each side, put 3 washer on the rear stud, then tighten the front nut. so basicly only one nut holding the hood on each side. I"ll try to get some coupler nut tomorrow. this way i can extend the stud. the stock fd hood stud is too short to add washers, that's why i left the rear nut off.

ohh btw, now the rear of the hood will scratch, so i have to prop the hood lower.
