j&s knck sensor on stock FD

Does a stock fd with just reliability mods and a downpipe have knocking problems that can lead to detonation? Would I eed a J&S knock retard system?

You can go DP, cat-back, cold air intake, and IC upgrade with the stock ECU without having detonation problems if you keep the boost below 12PSI.
