i've blown 5 tranny's in 6 months :(

what going on here...ok here it is...i've got an AUTO...anyways...the original tranny, blew early this year and i had a family friendwith a shop do the work on it...i didnt have the money at the time so he took payments on it..thats the only reason i took it to him...well he gave me a 12 month warranty on it...i'm on my 5th tranny right now , and i doubt it will last another week...can anyone help me to figure out what is going on...i'm not doing neutral slams...but i don bring it down to first and use the hold button...but i thought the tranny's should be strong enough for this...i dont have many mods...i'm really worried at this point ...any advice help please

Does your radiator have an ATF duct?

Are you supposed to break-in new trannies?

I would say if you are doing that hold thing I dunno cause I have a 5 speed but whatever that is I would STOP doing it if it's blowing the tranny obviously

My whole view on the world has just changed.
Get a Vette. They make great autos.
Little Vette gets them wet!

Go learn how to drive an auto. It's very clear that the way you drive it is killing the tranny. So STOP doing it.

Well,if it has blown 5 times you should know what IS blowing in it..,

So what component in the tranny is failing? If it where something like the ATF cooler, you should be able to tell by the fluid, it will be burnt.

Auto trannys are auto trannys, anybody should be able to fix it.

How much power are you pushing?

The stock radiator has an ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) duct. The ATF duct is just a passage in the bottom of the radiator to further cool the fluid. However, I've heard of two AT FD's with aftermarket radiators and no duct that are working just fine.

You should just go ahead and convert it to a manual. Autos aren't very good anyway.

the automatic trannies in these cars (mpvs, pathfinders, 929) are both trouble prone and exremely difficult to rebuild. the assembly of the entire tranny has to be 100% perfect otherwise it may not even work. there are also as many parts in the tranny as there are in the whole rest of the car.
you have 2 options
1. buy a rebuilt tranny from mazda, they actually do a good job on those
2. keep having this guy redo it until he gets in right

I used to be a svce. mgr. for a Mazda dealer, the problem you're describing could be for only 2 reasons, #1, the rebuild is done wrong, or #2 the transmission cooler and lines are contaminated or clogged and have to be flushed out.
