It's totaled :(

A lady ran a stop sign and I plowed into her. The damage doesn't seem that bad. Messed up front end and busted radiator, but because the repairs are going to be a little over 9 grand, her insurance company wants to total it. Mine said the same thing. Getting another one will have to wait a year because I'm about to deploy and it makes no sense buying one now. I'll put pics up of it soon.

I'll be buying it back for spare parts, but I'm going to have to save up a little to get another one because there's not one I can get for what they want to give me. The drive train is in good shape. I was thinking about shoving it all into my miata, but don't know how. Anyone know anything about that? A rotary would be nice in that little car.

If you have aftermarket parts, engine etc. etc. etc. You can bring in the receipts and contest it.

Don't let them low ball you on the value of your car. Find some ads for similar cars for sale, and present them to her ins adjuster. The job of her adjuster is to pay you as little as possible for your car. If you let them do it, they will screw you!

Very true...2 years ago someoen hit me in my integra. They said they'd give me 2500 for it... I brought all my reciepts for parts and they gave me 5000 for it, and let me keep it. Its definitely worth it to challenge that man.

+1... same thing happened to me when I crashed my 65 mustang... I just dropped in a fully built 347 stroker and t-5 trans... And they were only going to give me $5000 for the car... i showed them what all had been done to the car and they ended up giving my 7k plus my engine back... but you really have to fight with them... BASTARDS. haha

You need to find a attorney. You'd be surprised how the insurance companys
will change their tone.

I got in a wreck in mine and the insurance company was saying there was over 12k worth of damage to mine and they still never totaled it...don't remember what the actual total turned out to be. But they fixed it all and this was less than a year ago on a all stock car. They should value the car above that. I did ask if they were going to total it and they said the car was worth too much...I would be surprised if they totaled yours out.

No. You don't need an attorney. An attorney will charge you at least 30% of your settlement. A good attorney won't even bother with your small case.

sorry to hear that they totaled it. I would argue with them; get the car back and get however much they can give you to make you whole. I got into a minor fender bender and the insurance company wanted to total it (over $6k worth of damage!! they have no idea what the car is or what it is worth); my autobody shop and I argued back and forth with the insurance company explaining what the car is (that it is much more then some hunk of metal from 1993.)

There was a 13b powered Miata in a magazine recently (S3 maybe? Not a magazine high on my purchase list; but I bought it for the Miata.) That would be an awesome (albeit probably not cheap) project and a bad *** car.

Good luck in the service and best wishes. Hopefully this situation works out for you.

The two times i have had cars totalled by others insurance companies they initially tried to give roughly half of the value of the car. Was able to talk them up to full fair value both times. Nature of insurance payouts...

After haggling and showing receipts, I think we are going to be able to reach a fair agreement. Thanks for the help.

I was at Rotary Performance and the owner was saying how badass it would be to put the 13b into a miata. Can you imagine 400whp in a car that weighs in at 2,000lbs? INSANE

Thanks for the advice everyone. I was able to get quite bit more for it now. Now I'm off to save the world in my other "rotary". Take care!
