Iron is toast?

I tore down the block yesturday and found that the wall that holds coolant oring broke. im assuming the iron needs to be replaced but figured i would ask here first. weld it and then mill it back down??

I had something similar when my engine was being rebuilt, they suggested to replace it.

Technically its repairable via welding/machining.

There are also water seals that have metal inserts that should theoretically allow you to run it as is, but I wouldn't.

For the cost of an iron, I'd get it replaced

Please share some more information on these seals with the inserts.

I might try repairing just for the hell of it. We have the technology we CAN rebuild it. especially since im writing this while waiting for cnc mill to cut.

how much does a good shape uses iron run?

Goopy has metal rings that you install on the inside edge of the oring groove to reinforce/repair and be able to use oem orings...
