internals question? how much can they take?

Hey sorry this maybe an obvious question, and i've looked around a quick bit but have found nothing. I have a 94 FD with appr. 51000 miles on it all stock hold for a 3in apexi, and custom v-mount intercooled. Now i'm looking at taking out the stock twins and slappin on a 72mm single turbo, am i gonna need internal work done? Ceramic coating maybe? i'm tryint to figure out how much the stock internals can take before i have to head towards ceramic coating, again i apologize for the informal aspect and lack of research, but input would be great, let me know.

Don't worry about coating the internals of the engine, stock (uncoated) internals can take a lot of power....

The question you need to be asking is if your current engine is healthy. If it's not, don't bother (save the $$ to rebuild it ). If it is (good compression) then if you go single you'll need upgraded fuel system, ECU and clutch as well (at the very least). If you were rebuilding your engine, then there is a lot of internal work that can be done (different apex seals, porting, oil mods, etc...). Since you are not rebuilding it then make sure to go with a turbo that spools quickly with stock ports (rx6, GT35/40, etc.) or you might not too happy with it.
