Does anyone have pictures of Gordon Monsen's custom leather and alcantra interior with custom dash? Man, that was THE best interior I have ever seen in an RX7 to date. I can probably dig up the thread in the archive but the pictures are long lost dead links now.

Nevermind, I found them. While I don't like the light gray for the dash console, everything else is f*ckin awe inspiring.

I don't know how Knight1 FD did his gauges but, I've done it before. I used red transparent paint which can be found at your local hobby store.

What fabric is that on your seats? It looks like a carbon fiber twill pattern. Looks unusual but I like it.

dang i didnt know the door panels headliner and carpet are different, is there a thread or something that discusses this? i thought interior wise the r1s only differed from other fds with no sun roof and the faux suede seats

oh well if you're talking about that sort of stuff then you can take it from a base, touring etc, black interiors are not limited to the R1, the carpet and **** in an r1 is the same as any other black interiored FD. so like i said, its just seats that are exclusive to the r1.

Well unlucky for me, i have the only car (pretty much) thats an R1 with tan interior, i guess an option from previous owner whatever. And no R1's have tan interior. So since my car is an R1 and i want the black, i call that R1 since R1's have black interior.

So yeah.

wow holy crap you're car is a r1 but originally had tan? you should check the VIN with mazda to make sure its an r1. i didn't know any dealers did that, and have never seen a r1 with tan.

Yeah tell me about it. I was pretty pissed when i saw the car for the first time cause the guy told me on the phone before i saw it that it was an R1. He's a mazda mechanic so i assumed he knew what he was talking about. When i got to the car, i was like, eehh tan interior?? I did all the R1 checks and it came out 100%. So i was relieved. Still not convinced, i emailed 3 sites, the mazda site and 2 other rotary sites and 2 of them checked out that my car is an R1 to a 95+% possibility that it is. The other site didnt get back to me and that was over a year ago lol

Thats one of the reasons why i want to convert to black, to make it official R1. That and black looks much better than tan. ANNDDD i want to add the jdm rear seat

Silver or White with red leather is the best possible color scheme for an fd. My opinion
