I was driving my car to work today and I was just about there and my car decided it wasn't going to idle anymore, and it did it while I went home as well. Another weird thing I noticed was that when I got my car into the garage I would rev the engine up just up to 2500 or so and then let off the gas when the revs would go down to 1,000 or so I would hear a clank noise from the exhaust I did it a few times and I couldn't figure out what it was. If you guys have any ideas it would be helpful. I have a DD so I'm just gonna drive that until I figure out my new issue.

how about a better description of when the problem occurs, or even better provide a Datalogit log.

as for as the clank noise, you will have to put it on stands and see if you can recreate it

 

I dont have a datalogit yet unfortunately but the problem with the idle occurs every time I need the car to idle which is at stop lights, stop signs and such and the clank noise every time it drops down passed 1,000 rpm.

 

my friend had a bad throwout bearing. but i don't think that's it since your sound isn't constant and it has to do with idle. still.. maybe you just want to double check next time you jack up the car.
