Question Intercooler Repair?

My GReddy 3-row FMIC basically ate a pipe and has a pretty good crushed section and it did rip into the core. Are there companies out there that can fix this by rebuilding just a section of the core?

If just a section can't be rebuilt, can i save the end tanks have someone build it from there? I'm looking to save a little money by not having to buy a brand new one as most of the kit is still good (pipes, end tanks, couplers).

Are there any shops out there that specialize in this? I would be willing to send it off for the repair.

Thanks!

Might be worth a call to Greddy to see if they'll give you a half way decent deal on a new intercooler assembly. You definately will have to replace the entire core section. You might be able to reuse the end tanks but it'd probably be an iffy proposition to cut them off safely to reuse them. If I was in your boat I'd just get a new core of the same size and build tanks from sheet aluminum if Greddy wouldn't come off a new one reasonably.

I'm not getting much luck on ordering just the assembly from greddy. I did talk to someone at Bell Intercoolers yesterday and they said they could probably use the current end tanks with one of their cores but i need to send them the specs before they give me a quote.

sounds like your gonna need a new core from what you are saying. Maybe some pics would help, so we can assess the damage.

If you find the right shop, they can use your end tanks and just get you a brand new core. Just find a performance shop that have their own welder, it will save you some $$$ if you go this route.
