Intercooler question

Has anyone ever considered an air-to-water intercooler?

Where would you put it? I don't think it would be very effective in an FD. But I have heard people talk about them here. Is the search function enabled again?

they work great as long as you can provide cool fluid to the unit.....and the beauty of it is that the mounting location can be completely out of air flow......

I am waiting to receive my '99 front end from Pettit. Once I can take measurements, I am going to explore mounting the radiator(s) in the side air intakes, and venting the hot air out the bottom or into the wheel well. If there is enough room, I think air-to-water could solve several problems.

I think air-to-water can solve several problems. Problem is IMHO, the create more problems.

Piping the water for cooling it
A pump is required to pump the water
Another heat exchanger to cool the water that is in the airflow
Some wiring, relays and t-stat is required for the pump.

A/W IC Solves heat soat issues for the most part. The a/c condensor could be used as a heat exchanger for the IC coolant. That would require eliminating the a/c though.

A lot more complex, but way more efficient. Good for cars that are driven around town (low speed = poor cooling of air-air intercooler)
