Question Intake Thermosensor Replacement...

I know that the Intake Thermosensor is located in the intake manifold. Does anyone have a write up on replacement or disgnostics? Basically I don't want to have to take everything apart for nothing. I'm getting error code 11 and this means it's either the sensor or a short. Has anyone replaced the sensor and what was the outcome? Also, how much does this sensor usually go for? And, is it possible it's anything else other than the sensor? Most likely I heard it's a cheap sensor and prone to failure. Thanks a lot, -Joe

you unscrew it from the bottom of the manifold and i believe you can test the resistance of the sensor to see if it is ok. it's in the workshop manual. the sensor is about $60 from the dealer. don't torque it in too hard or it will break on you.

Yeah, just change the sensor, it's about $65-75 from the dealer. It's very prone to failure so I wouldn't bother testing the sensor unless you've got some down time waiting for the part. To test it, you have to heat it up to test the reading at high heat. You don't really need to remove the UIM completely, just get it so you have an opening to the sensor.

I agree with djantlive, testing doesn't always solve the problem. I went through that mess once before, and the sensor really should just be replaced.

ok great - thanks guys for the helpful info. I just checked the service manual and it doesn't look too bad, maybe I'll do a couple other things while I have it all apart. Thanks again, -Joe
