i bought a new intake for my rx7. i am still running the stock intercooler, and i was wondering if i would have to do anything as far the air diverter that directs air through the intercooler?

are u talking about the rectangular opening that is in the duct now that you removed the stock airbox?

If so then yes, you should do something for that. That is letting alot of the air out that should be passing through the intercooler fins. People put tape over it or for a more permanent result you can cut out some plastic or aluminum and fasten it over the hole.

I agree with DMoney. There's a rectangular opening that is part of the stock IC ducting that is gaping if you remove the stock airbox and resonator (big black piece that covers most of the front of the engine). Quite a bit of air meant for the IC is bled off through this hole.

just get a flat peice of plastic, only has to be a 6" square at the biggest. drill some holes and rivet it down. looks clean too.
