Intake/Exhaust system?
Intake/Exhaust system?
Hello guys.
My car is a 2000 Type R only mod on it HKS J-spec intakes + 3inch cat back exhaust.
Iwas planning on installing a 3" midpipe and a downpipe as well and remove the cat but some ppl here say that without an upgraded ecu this would blow my engine up. What you think? Anyone that has gone with this before?

If you do it, keep your boost at 10 PSI!
if you control your boost, you will be fine, but dont let it spike, so you will need restrictor plates- because with an open exhaust, you will get spikes. I would suggest getting a ECU and having it tuned and taking advantage of the boost your turbo's are going to want to produce easier.

Do some research before you start doing a bunch of mods. Read through the forum and read through the info at http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/ and www.scuderiaciriani.com
The short answer is yes, you will blow your engine if you just put a midpipe on. For now, install the downpipe and get a boost controller to keep boost at 11 psi. Research before you do more.
