Insurance?

Hey all,
I'm 14 --sigh-- and I've been thinking about owning an RX7 for a lil over a year now..... I've got about $7,000 saved up so far..... things looking pretty good....
But insurance! How much is that gonna cost for a 16-17 year old kid in an RX7 ?? I can only work in the summer, and I'm afraid I won't be able to afford it. Anyone know any estimates for someone about 16?

Thanks!

woohoo......

A lot, see if you can get your parents to be the primary driver. Keep saving, 7 grand is great, but you can never have too much. Maybe drive another car around a little bit untill your 18 or have enought to pay off the rx all at once. It would also be good for you to drive a car w/o so much power starting out driving. A FD is a FAST car, especially for someone young. I am 18 and I think I have too much power to be messing around on the streets. As far as insurance... I'm guessing $2400 a year and up if your the primary driver.

Yeah I thought about driving something else like a pickup or a honda for awhile... or maybe a 2nd gen RX since it's more affordable
I think my mum or someone will have to be the primary driver.
I'll be callin some insurance peoples.............

Thanks again!

Dont do it...trust me.
From what my insurance co told me (State Farm) the car is listed as an exotic.

I would suggest you to wait until your older to get the car.

However, for the chick factor....you know that girls will be all over you if you get this car.

I had my mom check for me when she worked at state farm.. The price with my parents as the primary driver under there name increased there insurance by $1500.. The car if listed under my name would be around $2900.. This is with ALL the benifits(drivers ed, defensive driving, parents good record)...

Get a 2nd gen for now. It will be much cheaper to insure and will most likely be cheaper to own as well. It's not like FCs are slow or handle bad, you know. They even still look pretty damn good.

Besides, leave yourself some room to upgrade when you get your next car. If you get an FD, what are you going to move up to?
