Question Instrument Cluster problem

Hey Guys

Need some help with my problem. After the winters mods i removed alot of wiring from the engine bay harness. But i left the harness for the dash.

Now when i start the car i don't get a RPM signal. It bounces a few sec when the car is cranking. Then it drops to 0 when the car starts. Im suspecting a ground problem.

I have searched and came to that conclusion after reading a few posts. But no real solutions on how to fix it. Is there a wire i could look for that needs to be grounded? When i stripped the engine bay harness i tried to leave all the grounds intact. And i think i did. So what could the problem be? I should also mention that the odometer died on me last year. It stopped showing the miles i had coverd with the car.

If anyone has a solution to this problem it would be great. I have lights on the instrument cluster. And im not using the water temp, oil pressure or fuel level gauges. And i have not tested the spedo yet as i have not driven the car yet. Since i don't want to do that before i get the tacho to work.

Regards
Jan-Tore

Do you know what wires you pulled out? Trace out the rest of the wires using the wiring diagram manual for the speedo and tach. Chances are if your tach doesn't work, your speedo and odometer will not work.

Well my Odometer stopped working last year. So it might be the speedo that has stopped working. And that gives power to the tacho as far as i know.

JT,
Use the enclosed link to help diagnose any issues you may have. Those posts detail the troubles I faced when dealing with a blown Meter Fuse.

Well i found the problem. But im abit embarresed to say what was the problem.

okay i did cut one to many wires when cleaning up the engine bay harness. I managed to cut a ground cable that goes to the instrument cluster. It's a black/blue cable on one of the whit connectors to the instrument cluster.
