Installing Wideband sensor

I have a Defi D-Gauge Air/Fuel Meter which I will be hooking up to my car soon. I want to have an accurate reading of my cars air/fuel ratio and from my understanding the stock o2 senor will provide a very crude reading. I would like to install some type of wideband o2 sensor that I can connect to my gauge. Is it possible to purchase a standard Bosch 5-wire o2 sensor from rx7store.net and wire it to my gauge? Do these function the same as narrow band sensors? And as far as installation, will i replace the stock narrowband with the wideband in the downpipe and wire it to ecu or should I install an extra bung in the downpipe and use the wideband for monitoring only (do not rewire the ecu to the new wideband)

As far as I know you shouldnt put it too close to the manifold. Some people put it in front of their catalyzer or at the end of the front pipe. Keep the bung above the 9 or 3 oclock position.

PS..do a search

It won't work. A wideband o2 sensor needs a "controller unit" to work. This pretty much means you have to buy a wideband setup, all of which are available with their own properly calibrated gauge.

You'd be better off selling your Defi and going with a new setup.
