Installing Cruise Control in an R1?

I am purchasing a cruise control set up out of a Touring for my R1.

I know there is a harness up by the brake booster assumably for the control box, but do I use the stock R1 throttle cable?
And the harness' inside the car, are they there for the steering wheel and cluster 'bubble'?

Thanks,
Raj

What else should I ask him to remove from his car to make it work in mine?

I added cruise to my R1 in 1999.

This is what you need.

1. Cruise buttons on steering wheel and dash.

2. Cruise "module" about the size of a deck of cars, it is black and fits right above where your left ankle would be when your driving.

3. Actuator under the hood. Fits on left side of engine bay and has a cable leading to throttle body.

The conversion is a complete bolt-in. No wiring harnesses needed, the car has all the wiring already.

The tach is different, the R1 tach has the "cruise" light blacked out. I opted to leave my stock tach in, I can tell when the cruise is working.

Thanks Jeff, that helps alot.

I will let the guy know about the module, but is there a pic somewhere or better way to describe it to him?

You will have to swap/buy the pieces behind the steering wheel that have a hole to fit the steering wheel switches. I sold mine to a R1 guy and he sent me his blank and steering wheel pieces and I sent him the dash switch, steering wheel pieces, control unit (located in area by dead pedal) and the unit in the engine bay. I may have some pics of the stuff but am out of town this weekend.

I installed cruise on my R1. For the steering wheel control unit, you can cutout the panel on the side of the wheel to mount the controls.
