so im picking up a asp large kit for a good deal but I do have some concerns about it.

1. Im on stock twins still (although I plan to run higher boost 13-14psi) Im still worried about tooo much pressure lose with it.

2.I really don't want to relocate the battery, so will i be able to get a PC680 battery in the engine bay some where? I don't mind a little custom work.


Again, im getting a super super deal on this Ic thats why im doing it instead of the medium. Thanks in advance.

there isn't that much pressure loss with it IIRC


here it is with a direct comparo between the medium and large. Only 1.1psi pressure drop.

Yes, you can fit an ASP large and a mini battery in the engine bay.

I ran a Large SMIC and a PC 680 for a couple years. I hated dealing with the mini battery dying on me all the time. I finally relocated the battery(optima 51r) into one of rear bins.

In this pic, you can barely see that the mini battery is next to the SMIC. The SMIC is offset about an inch.

where did you put your AST ?

 

I eliminated my AST and have had no problems yet. You're much better off relocating your battery. The mini battery is really not sufficient. It's not that hard to do. I paid an auto electric shop about $100 to do it.

I only run 10-11 psi boost but I don't think there is much pressure drop compared to stock.

 

It's just to the left of the duct. I used zip ties throught the IC core.

Im sticking with a mini battery, I dont want my bins hacked up. I have friends with the mini battery that have no issues, and it's not daily driven. I will be getting a battery charger to work full time with her.

You don't have to hack your bin up. Just put a couple small holes in it for the battery cables. You can get an adequate size battery that fits in the bin perfectly without cutting it.

At some point when the car is sitting for a few months in winter I'm sure I'll go at relocation the battery, but as of right now I just don't have enough time to do it properly.

 

the mini-battery is fine if you a) drive the car everyday, or b) plug the battery into a tender during its "off-time"

 

yea rotor, I don't drive it everyday but I will buy a charge kit for it. For now I'll just start her up once a day and let her get to operating temp

Looks nice. How will you line up the duct or does it matter?

 

lots of people have problems with the duct lining up, I think thats as good as i can get it unless someone can chime in ?

 

i have a problem with the duct as well. the driver side pipe hits the fuse box so the IC can't sit farther to the right. some of your couplers are longer than the others right? by fidgeting with them and even cutting some shorter I got the left to right alignment pretty good. however the duct sits an inch or two higher than it should, preventing the hood support from stowing correctly. i've tried all the tricks to lower the rad besides widening the holes, no luck.

what rad do you have?

 

im bone stock rad still, my couplers seem to be alright kinda, i dunno its a TIGHT fit, i have a problem hitting the power steering

 

The pipe is not sitting in there right or you have a medium IC pipe somehow. If it's hitting the power steering banjo bolt on the underside then you need to loosen up your Greddy elbow and tilt the tube end up and tighten them back down. From the picture it also looks like you should rotate the pipe up or flip it around. It should definately line up better than that. If you bought the IC new from Jason I'll replace the pipe at no cost if need be.
