injector setup question
let me broach the subject by saying that i have tired searching, but apparently, i've not been able to think of the exact right phrase to search for to get the answer i want.
basically, i was looking at a link that Mahjik had given me a long time again regarding the rwhp capabilities based on what sized injectors you have. i have been considdering getting 1300cc secondary injectors but i know that the more flow capacity you have, the more power you can support but what is more important to me is that you can get the same power at a lower injector duty cycle. so... i saw a listing for 1300cc secondaries and 550cc primaries which i know means you keep the stock primaries and get new secondaries. i ALSO saw a listing from 1300cc secondaries and 850cc primaries.
now for my question, the stock secondaries are 850cc correct? can you put the 1300cc injectors in the secondary rail and move the 850cc injectors to the primary rail to replace the 550cc injectors that are there from the factory?

yes and yes but you'll have to have the primary rail milled down a bit to fit the 850s. Garfinkle does it for VERY cheap pretty much as a gift and sandblasts the rail to make it like new as well and then they drop right in
just for frame of reference....with just 1300s you'll be at around 95% duty cycle with 415rwhp
add the 850s and you should be in the low to mid 80 duty cycles with that same rwhp
This is a fantastic setup as you can keep the stock rails lines everything just drop 4 injectors in its cheap and effective!

good idea to research beforehand...your ideas may change several times before you actually do it
I have 1600s and 850s with an aftermarket secondary rail and lines and garfinkles milled primary rail. It was a huge pain to get this all working with ss lines and to find a place for the regulator and stop all the fuel leaks. however now with a good amount of power Im still not seeing more than 84 duty cycle
yep of course along with all of this youll need a nice fuel pump an ecu that can be tuned and a tuner! a boost controller intake full exhaust and a good set of twins or single depending on how much power you want to make It all adds up

project D that's the exact one i was looking at apparently i didn't read it quite well enough... stupid engineer in me went right the to chart
surgemonster, i think i have it all pinned down and i realize its gonna be an ****-load of work... i plan on going single eventually, but yeah, its changed so many times since i bought the car that its not even funny. i already have the PFC and the basic mods along with it and all... right now, i'm just trying to learn thanks again for the help all of you.

to go with an aftermarket fuel rail though, don't you end up losing something else that has to do with passing emissions down the road? that was the impression i was under for some stupid reason.

hmm... i still think it can be done but then, i have no idea what i'm talking about and i think that's pretty obvious i guess i need to do ALOT more reading about all this than i thought i did.

with an aftermarket secondary rail you lose the air control valve and the turbo control solenoid is mounted to that. it is on the inside of the lower intake manifold. you also lose the fuel temperature sensor unless you tap the rail but I suppose it's not needed. I tried to keep everything I could but left that one out and the car starts and runs incredible just like a brand new car.

fart on a friends head!!!
Garfinkle made a bung for the fuel temperature sensor on his lathe. It is welded to the rail so The sensor is now in the fuel flow but not blocking flow . The rail and 1680 cc injectors came from RP. The sensor can change the map by seven percent . That is why david did the extra work, you know how he is .
