I'm reading through my warranty and...

I have recently blown my motor and was reading though my warranty to see exactly what is covered and what isnt. Well I found NO MENTION of rotors or rotor housings in the "COVERED" portion and also none in the "NOT COVERED" portion. What does this mean? Am I covered or am I not?

No mention of pistons, rods, cylinders in either of the sections also...I'm kind of confused here, Can someone help me out here? Thanks.

BTW: The name of the warrany company is OminiAuto.

usually, it will say "engine, and any internall lubricated parts" or something of that nature.

listen to Martini, they usually have similar language. The rotors and housings ARE internally lubricated parts.

Damn dude I hope you are having/had better luck than I am.

Last week I took my car in to get my turbo replaced under warranty cause the smoke was unbearable, and they told me I had low compression. So...I need a new motor. They let the warranty company know and the company told me that I had to pay for the motor to be torn down to find the source of failure, if any. If no damage is found, the motor will not be covered because of "normal wear and tear."

I wish I would have known about this before I spent the $2k on the warranty last year

damn, u serious? it would be fair for you to pay it to see what caused it, but if it turns out you're not at fault they should pay you back. that sucks. good luck.

btw, i thought they had some law in CA that the warranty is void due to modification only if the modification is directly linked to the failure, e.g., higher boost voids the turbo warranty but coilovers wouldn't. i'm pretty sure this applied to new car factory warranties.

The "internally lubricated part" description is all well and good but alot of warrantees don't cover "seals and gaskets". If you blew an apex "seal" you might have a problem, if you blew and O-ring you may have a problem there too. Don't want to rain on your parade but it is really up to the warrantee company, there are usually alot of loopholes they have written into the policy that the could get out of just about anything. Take any and all performance mods off the car prior to calling your warrantee adjuster (note: this is also construed as fraud, just so you know) and hope he's in a good mood.
