I think the yellow might look good. I really like the gunmetal grey, but, in my car with tan seats, and black dash, I think it would be a little much. In an all black interior, I think most any color would look good. Just think of how it would look from the outside, though. I think too contrasting of a color (i.e. red or blue on yellow) from the inside to the outside may be a little funky. But hey, whatever licks your lollipop.
if i were to re-paint mine i'd do it black again, and then change all the tan stuff for another color, the outside of my car is black so it would go with most anything, i wonder how much $ it would cost though.

I'd say look in the interior/exterior/audio section fo rexamples of painted interiors...
IMO I'd go with something less radical than you think that you want, because 3 or 4 months down the road you'll hate looking at some funky *** color. Look at some of the OEMs that have multi-colored interiors (i.e. porsche) and take a few tips from them...
The graphite on black sounds like an excelent idea, not too loud, but just enough to be original. In the end only you can decide

umm gunmetal.
i agree with unixpilot...i used spraypaint on mine and it looked great the first time, but after a few months it wore off because i didnt use a clearcoat. I redid it with a cheap clearcoat...it was decent... but in the end i wound up having a bodyshop use gunmetal car paint and car clearcoat which would be able to handle all the wear.

I understand not wanting to look ricey, but I already have the only red FD in town so it isn't like I don't get all the looks already.
I decided to do my interior myself. I used flexible automotive paint. I removed the panels I wanted to paint, removed the old paint (otherwise it will peal) with sandless pads (keeps from scratching the surface) then painted.
It cost me $20 in paint, $5 in sanding pads and my time.
Turned out better then I would have thought!

well i didn't paint it myself, i had a friend with a spray gun do it but i did the sanding and the relocation thing.
the paint application is the only thing i didn't do.
if you don't know anybody who uses a spray gun, go to a body shop.
better sanding it yourself, it will cost less.

coop: nice job that looks very nice. I did the same thing.
So here is my two cents from someone who already went thru this. Im not a interior guy thats good with paints and **** like that.
1. Be patient and cautious pulling the stuff off. Search the forum,
2. Take the plastic parts to a bodyshop and have them painted with a high quality flexible paint and clearcoat.
3. I would advise on NOT painting the entire curved piece that covers the gauges, just paint the outer section. Reason being is that it will reflect in the drivers field of view.
4. Have an extra set of hands around when your putting it back together...Those door panels can be tricky to get lined up.
These are the tips I have after doing mine.
I did all the work myself and used high quality flexible spray paint.
Sanding all those pieces was a MAJOR pain in the ***, I musta spent 4 solid days and my hands were destroyed.
Mine turned out "ok" but like others have stated, it just doesnt hold up to wear or have that glossy wet shine.
Good luck

I'd send mine to forum memeber mkoch1 and have him cover them in carbon fiber. Looks hella cool, and should last longer than painting. Here is a link with photos and pricing:
