PA Ignition Issue

ok here it goes.... Ive had some ignition issues with my car for a while now. It would clear up and run smooth if i played with the harness that plugs into the igniter for a little while. well that harness is pretty chewed up and I've had a few of the wires on that harness break on me already. Im tired of dealing with the harness and would like to know if there is any that i could completely eliminate the stock ignitor with some aftermarket ignition system of some sort. i don't want to have to deal with that harness any more. I am completely new to aftermarket ignitions so i have no clue if there is a way do away with that part of my ignition system. any help would be greatly appreciated.
also if you could tell me what parts i would need to buy to make it happen it would be great. thank you very much in advance.

Power goals? Turbo Setup?

My reasoning is this.... An aftermarket ignition could help solve some of the issues. As the ECU fires the ignitors and in turn fires the coils. Setting them up is fairly straightforward. There are tons of aftermarket write-ups on the forum. Just search. Jacob's, MSD, or Crane are decent options. The HKS Twin Power is simply an amplifier that utilizes the OEM harness so it wouldn't be much of a solution with your current decrepit harness.

My recommendation would be to replace your OEM ECU harness. They are about $700 new from Ray at Malloy Mazda. The coil harness is about $80. This will not only solve your problem, but also remedy future problems. If the ignition portion of the harness is that brittle and jacked up, it's only a matter of time before you start having issues with other devices.

However, if you have a big single or will eventually be shooting for over 450whp, then I can see where an aftermarket ignition system is warranted. Looking forward is a big part of modifying our cars. Still, the OEM coils with a Twin Power is a very common option because it works so well. 500whp has been made with the stock coils and the little gold box that could. I personally run a Twin Power and have zero breakup at 400whp. With a quality harness, it's the easiest and simplest solution.

I think it's your ignition coil harness that you're messing with. There is an updated version of it available from Mazda. That's where I'd start.

I'm actually going gt40r in the near future so i think upgrading would be the bet. the harness I'm referring too is the one that plugs into the igniter box on the drivers side fender well (next to the brake booster). what would i need to eliminate the igniter and possibly just splice in that harness?
